Speaking to Environmental Groups Andrew Welch has a long history of active engagement and leadership to local environmental issue groups. He spent a number of years on the Board of Directors of both Caledon Green T Environmental Awareness and the Alton Village Association. In both cases, he was instrumental in getting their constitutional houses in order and setting their visionary course for the future. In 2012, he was the founding facilitator of an officially designated Transition Town in Erin, Ontario (“Transition Erin”) – part of the international Transition Town Network. As a result of his in-depth knowledge of the issues and challenges that such groups face, he is often called upon to present his unique perspectives on the work required to be done to inspire real change at every level from the individual to communities and society itself. Perhaps more importantly, Andrew's extensive background in business as a management consultant and facilitator allows him to approach environmentalism with a solid feel for the views from both sides of most topics. Among others, he has spoken (often with repeat engagements) to Transition Guelph, Caledon Green TEA, the Guelph Resilience Festival, Transition Erin, and Transition Bay St. Margaret's (Nova Scotia). Andrew speaks with passion, knowledge, and fresh outlooks accessible to all. Please contact us to request a booking. Sample Topic: Four Things that Keep Us from Taking Action to Save the EnvironmentAudience: Environmental Groups Climate change, energy crisis, economic meltdown – we all know what disasters seem to be unavoidably lurking in our future. So why are we (as individuals, as communities, as a society) not doing more to avert them? What is holding back our governments? Why are so many of us unable to take real effective action against these looming crises? Andrew Welch proposes answers to these questions in a powerful new theory that has been described by one journalist as “headsmackingly commonsensical”. His recent book, The Value Crisis, is a hit with book clubs all over, largely because caring readers are very keen to discuss the ground-breaking ideas that he introduces, explaining the root cause of some of the biggest challenges facing the planet. In this talk, he offers four reasons why things aren’t happening that should be – and what we can do to change that. |
